Apparatus Theory
Ideology is part of the cinema's nature

Apparatus Theory is Ideological and is based more on Ideas, structuralism, semiotics, psycho-analystic, Marxist theory. Also is based on the camera and the editing of a film.



For Karl Marx, the Marxist Film Theory, the society is capitalist. It is not fair. There is discrimination. Rich people have so much difference in poor people. Poor people serve the rich people.
Poor people is degraded over rich people. It is unruly and the poor are powerless.





Jacques Lacan, who is called "the most controversial psycho-analyst since Freud." He believes that language is important. Language is somewhat part of the reality. He believes that film is shown in a figurative way as what is based in Sigmund Freud's theory.








Christian Metz is a film theorist who believes more and emphasizes more on Semiotics which is the study of signs and symbols. In film, signs and symbols are powerful. It is part of the viewers' imaginations in watching a film.
